ScoutsCymru Yr Hafod is the ideal base to explore this stunning area of North Wales it is surrounded by some of the most beautiful mountains in Snowdonia National Park.
Yr Hafod runs training and assessment courses, Explorer Scout adventure weekends, and also Duke of Edinburgh Gold Expeditions.
Experience Our Landscape
Yr Hafod is in the Ogwen Valley of the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales. It is flanked by two majestic mountain ranges , which makes it an ideal location for your next mountain adventure.
The Hostel
Yr Hafod is the perfect base for your adventure and provides indoor accommodation for up to 32 people. This includes a kitchen (fully equipped), a dining area, dormitories, wash / shower rooms and a lounge for meetings or to relax in. There is a public telephone and Wifi. Yr Hafod has good road access and parking for up to 10 vehicles directly outside the building. Unfortunately, camping is not available at the Hostel.
Our Courses
Yr Hafod runs, Permit Training & Assessment Courses (Hill Walking & Rock Climbing), Explorer Adventure Weekends, Open DofE Gold Expeditions (Training & Assessment) and First Aid Courses. If that’s not enough for you, we also run the Mountain Training Mountain Leader & the Rock-Climbing Instructor Award. Is that’s still not enough for you then you can join one of our weekends for introduction to the mountains or a guided walk experience. All our courses are subsidised for Scout Association Members and our staff are keen to pass on their knowledge in a fun and informative way.
