Scouting is all about experiencing new things, supporting your community, getting stuck in and building confidence – that goes for the adults as well as the young people. Volunteering is a fantastic way to gain skills that you’ll use in all aspects of life.
Find a volunteering opportunityIn Scouting, we celebrate difference, everyone’s welcome! We’re a big organisation with lots of volunteers. You might be familiar with your local leaders and occasional parent helpers but we also recruit volunteers into regional and national roles. If you’re interested in becoming an occasional parent helper in your child’s group, let your local leader know.
Find a volunteering opportunityOccasional helpers are usually parents or carers who join a rota to lend a hand each term. They might set up craft activities, referee games, join walks or make the tea! It’s a vital role that ensures that safe ratios are maintained for all activities. Talk to your child’s group Leader if you are interested in helping.
Sections (groups) will have a leader (SL) and perhaps assistant leaders (ASLs) who will organise your local programme of activities. These people are trained to lead the adventure.
Find a volunteering opportunityBehind local groups, we have a network of people who offer training, guidance and support. If you’ve got skills in HR, finance, fundraising, communications, training or health and safety we’d love to hear from you.
