Volunteer to join the staff team

Every year this event requires a huge volunteer team. We are looking for Explorer Scouts to help on site on the day as part of our Explorer Service Team of volunteers, as well as adult helpers who are not coming with a group and can support with the logistics of the day as volunteer staff.

You can apply to volunteer using the same booking link at a cost of £10 per Explorer or adult volunteer, which includes all meals for the day. Limited spaces are available. Explorer Scouts and adult volunteers can book as individuals and do not need to come as part of an organised group.

Costs for Cubs and Leaders

All Wales Cub Fun Day costs £15 per Cub, £5 per leader, young leader and leaders’ children who are not in the Cubs section, and £10 for members of the Explorer Service Team and Staff Team, which includes all meals.

Leaders, please factor your own unit costs into the price you give your Cubs, including any transport costs for travelling to and from the venue. All Wales Cub Fun Day isn’t running any organised coaches but in past years, some Districts and Areas have arranged transport for their members. Do check in with your local District and Area Lead Volunteers to see if this is the case, or you could consider linking up with other local Cub groups to share coach hire costs.

Everyone who attends the All Wales Cub Fun Day will receive an exclusive blanket badge as a reminder of a memorable weekend. This is included in payment costs and you will be given your badges in your welcome pack when you check in.

An inclusive event

All Wales Cub Fun Day welcomes all Cubs in Wales. The event will be as inclusive as possible and we have put measures in place to ensure everyone feels welcome.

We have disabled parking facilities available and the site is fully accessible and. Has accessible toilets. We have some quiet spaces and ear defenders available for anyone who needs a break from busy activity zones and a quiet space for anyone wishing to pray or take time for personal reflection.
There are no height or age restrictions on any of the activities. Although not all activities may be suitable for everyone, we will adapt activities wherever we can. We’d love to chat to you in more detail about any specific needs so we can plan this in advance.

How to book

**This event is sold out for participants although we still need volunteers**

One leader will need to book for their whole group via the booking link, which will go live at 12pm. Bookings close on Sunday 13 April 2025, or sooner, if the event sells out. You will need to know how many Cubs and leaders you would like to book for and pay a deposit upon booking. Any deposits not paid within 14 days will mean cancellation of your booking.

The balance is due on Sunday 13 April 2025. You may adjust your numbers up until this date but please note that all deposits are non-refundable and you will not be able to use deposits of surplus places to pay off your remaining balance.

We are expecting a lot of interest in this event and it is likely to sell out so we suggest groups use the coming weeks to confirm numbers and logistics before bookings open. Cubs may only come as part of a Cub group and not as individuals/with their families. If the event sells out, we can add you to the waiting list and will let you know if a space becomes available for your group.

What to expect from Cub Fun Day

The day will begin at 10am with an opening ceremony, as 1,400 Cubs and leaders come together to celebrate the largest gathering of Cubs in Wales in 2025.

The day will be split into two sessions, with Cubs making their way around four different activity zones. Cubs will spend half of their day in the Boing and Creative zones, and then the other half in the Adventure and Skill zones where they will be able to float between the various activities in both zones. The zones have been inspired by the Cub Challenge Awards, meaning all those who attend Cub Fun Day will be able to tick off some of the requirements for these badges. Activities will include everything from inflatable games and activities to climbing, crate skating and archery, and making Welsh cakes and popcorn.

We’ll finish off the day with a closing ceremony from 4.00pm to 4.30pm which will also include an opportunity for investitures, with new Cubs invited on stage to make their promise.

What do Cubs need to bring?

We will send information nearer the time but all Cubs and leaders will need a packed lunch, snacks for throughout the day, a drinks bottle, waterproof coat, sun hat or cap, group necker or scarf and sun cream. We recommend that Cubs wear clothes that are appropriate for an active day and for changeable weather. Please ensure all items of clothing are labelled – every year, we have bags of clothing left behind because they don’t have a name on them.

All Wales Cub Fun Day merchandise

We have an exciting range of official clothing and merchandise to celebrate All Wales Cub Fun Day to pre-order. Everyone who attends All Wales Cub Fun Day will receive an exclusive blanket badge to celebrate the day, included in booking costs. You will receive this when you check in on the day.

Leaders coming with their groups will need to help on the day

The event is run entirely by volunteers and we need support in the activity zones. Groups who have a higher ratio of leaders to young people than official guidelines require are asked to support the activity zones. We cannot open all the activities in the zones without enough volunteers. When you book, you’ll be asked to sign up to the zones you’d like to help in. We will then allocate a proportion of your leaders to help. We thank you in advance for your support in ensuring the smooth-running of the day and for enabling the Cubs to enjoy as many activities as possible.
