Training to help you lead the adventure for Scouts in Wales.

Scout leaders are volunteers and come from all walks of life. It’s not just young people that build skills through Scouting, Leaders do too.

Training for Scout Leaders in Wales

At the outset, Leaders are given training on getting started on their Scouting journey. Growing Roots is for your first six months as a new volunteer, with Safety & Safeguarding completed within the first 30 days. This covers the basics of Scouts, safety, data protection and creating an inclusive environment.

Compulsory training

Building skills and developing Welsh talent

If you can stand in front of a group of rowdy children in a Scout hut, you can handle any meeting! Volunteering as a leader builds confidence and skills. Leaders get just as much from Scouting as young people. All adult leaders in Scouting receive ongoing support, helping them to develop their current skills and learn new ones.

How training is delivered to Scout leaders in Wales

Training takes place on residential or single day courses in small groups. It is also delivered through e-learning or workbooks. Leaders undertaking training are buddied up with a more experienced leader who can coach and mentor them through the scheme as a peer adviser.
