We are excited to invite applications for the roles of adult leaders for our international expeditions taking place in 2026. The majority of the expeditions are funded by Taith including travel and accommodation, however there may be some extra costs associated with the trips. If eligible, support may be available to help cover these.
There will be three expeditions, giving opportunities to even more young people.
The expeditions will enable young people aged 16-24, particularly those who may not normally have such experiences due to additional needs, varying from abilities, or financial hardship, to participate in an international opportunity and cultural exchange. The experience aims to provide participants with the opportunity to experience scouting in a different cultural context, develop their leadership skills, and build friendships with their international counterparts. We seek enthusiastic individuals who are committed to promoting inclusivity and ensuring that all participants have a meaningful experience.
Please note – The recruitment for the participants on the Canada trip will take place at a later date but we are going ahead now to recruit the Deputy Unit Leader as we would like them to attend the International Taster weekend being held on 31 October – 2 November 2025.

Before you start
The Patrol Leader roles are part of the international expedition to Bavaria in summer 2026, where the young leaders will have the opportunity to develop their leadership skills.
Applicants should have experience in expeditions (either nationally or internationally) and some experience of traveling abroad. The role involves working with young people the same age as you, from Wales with different backgrounds, experiences, and abilities.
Patrol Leaders will help share and learn about different cultures with other Scouts from Wales and Bavaria.
This is an opportunity for young people to experience scouting in a different cultural context and to help their patrol to prepare for and engage in the expedition. We are particularly interested to hear from young leaders who may not have put themselves forward for an international experience but can demonstrate that they have strong leadership skills and experience.
If you apply to be a Patrol Leader but are not selected, you may still be offered a TAITH participant place on the trip and you won’t need to complete another form. Find all the details on our main International Opportunities webpages – link below.
