Scouts go to Bavaria in August 2025

ScoutsCymru is looking forward to our upcoming international expedition to Bavaria in August 2025. This expedition offers young people the chance to earn their Explorer Belt while immersing themselves in Bavarian culture and building lasting friendships with local Scouts.

July 2025 Update – The Explorer trip to Bavaria is getting closer! ✈️

With just one month to go, excitement is building for what promises to be an incredible adventure, funded by @taithwales

Our young people have been hard at work planning their Explorations – and they’re looking amazing. Two teams will be covering over 200km each, exploring castles, lakes, rivers, towns, and Munich City.

They’ll be travelling by local trains, buses, ferries and cable cars – and some are even hoping to include gentle water activities!

As an Adult Leadership Team, we’re so proud of the progress they’ve made. Our young Team Leaders are showing fantastic leadership skills and guiding their teams with real confidence.

This week, we introduced the Bavarian Rover Scouts to the teams – and things are off to a great start, with positive interactions and joint planning sessions already underway.

Let the countdown begin! You can follow our trip on our socials, either here on the ScoutsCymru facebook page or via our instagram page which is @scoutscymruwithoutborders

Participants will spend 10 days in Germany, working closely with Bavarian Scouts to experience their way of life. In 2026, we will host our Bavarian friends in Wales, sharing the rich culture and traditions of our country.

Fully funded opportunity for Explorer Scouts in Wales supported by Taith

Taith is an international learning exchange programme that creates life-changing opportunities to learn, study and volunteer abroad. Taith is Welsh for ‘journey’, their generous support allows us to offer this trip for free.

The Explorer Belt Award is a prestigious international Scouting Award. It’s gained by taking part in a challenging expedition, often in a foreign country, while demonstrating teamwork, cultural exploration and personal development. This experience in Germany will introduce Bavarian culture and bring together Scouts from across Europe.

Scouts is for everyone but we know that overseas adventure is trickier for some. That’s why if you’re facing barriers to taking part, we’d especially like to hear from you. We can offer specific, tailored support if you have an additional learning need or disability. There is also funding available for those who might need help with the cost of practical items, such as passports or kit to enable them to take part.

The adventure doesn’t stop in Bavaria! In 2026, we’ll host our Bavarian friends here in Wales, sharing our unique culture and traditions.
