More than 100 Scouts, Explorers and leaders from Mid Glamorgan and Gwent headed to London for @monopolyrunlive – a real-time version of the popular board game, which involves visiting the actual sites featured in the game.
They joined 8,000 young people from across the UK for the country’s largest Monopoly-themed event for Scouts and Guides, using the real streets of London as their game board.
Teams competed to buy up as many properties on the board as possible by visiting the actual locations in central London, charging – or being charged – rent to those in their ‘mini games’ who arrived after them, and using an app to complete team photo challenges and answer quiz questions.
Despite the torrential rain, the Scouts said they had a great time and were looking forward to taking part again next year using what they had learned this year to be better prepared for the challenge.
