2020 has been a difficult year for all of us, and at this years Celebration of Scouting Awards we wanted to recognise and celebrate those that have gone above and beyond for Scouting in Wales during what has been an extremely turbulent year.

Each of the nominations we received were incredible and we couldn’t be prouder of our amazing volunteers!

So, to spread some positivity we wanted to share our winner’s stories with you!

Next up we’ve got Ian Cater who won the Trustee Award.

Ian is Treasurer for Cardiff East Scouts and is described as someone who is “supportive

and provides a listening ear”.

He ensures that his district is equipped and funded to develop Scouting in all aspects, providing advise across the groups to help them meet their finical obligations. During a difficult year he

has been on hand to support and discuss concerns and give timely and useful advice.

Ian as treasurer is particularly concerned with finical inclusion. He works with the areas ADC Inclusion to ensure that no one gets left behind or left out. He champions the course at every opportunity and is also mindful of the many challenges members may be facing.

Ian has always embraced scouting values and has gained great respect across the district in a number of group roles previously and now in his district role. Ian is able to communicate and support all groups across a diverse district in a way that suits all of their needs.

Congratulations to Ian and thank you for your hard work and unwavering dedication to Scouting in Wales!
