Discovering the future of Scouting

Since our last update on the Discovery project we have been continuing with our mission to secure Scouting in Wales and have been focusing on steering and supporting our leaders and young people through the pandemic. We are now looking ahead and wish to ask you, our members, to engage in conversation about our future and the roles we each play to sustain and extend our reach in Wales.

We’ve created a survey to understand your thoughts about how we grow and become more inclusive, community focused and youth shaped. In addition to the survey we are hosting a number of online workshops to further understand your views to ensure we are listening to our members, keeping what works well and changing what doesn’t.

It’s really important that we hear from you so we are able to learn from this last year and understand how we rebuild and plan our route for future generations of Scouts to join our adventure.

Why complete this survey?

There are 5 sections to this survey so it may take some time to complete but we assure you that it will be worth it! Please set aside plenty of time to sit down and really think about your experiences and thoughts for the future of Scouting. It is really important that all questions are answered in full and we all share what we like and where we would like to see changes. We want your ideas, suggestions and feedback.

Who are we engaging with?

This consultation is aimed at person over the age of 18 and for the purpose of the survey and workshop sessions we aim to engage with our Staff, Network 18-25, Volunteer Leaders, Volunteer Managers & Supporters and Volunteer Trustees. The survey is available to anyone involved in Scouting over this age as we would also like to hear from Parents and Guardians on behalf of our younger members.

How long will it take to complete?

The survey will take between 20 and 30 minutes and it may be easier to do on a computer or tablet, rather than a mobile phone.
