ScoutsCymru are looking for a new Chair of the Board of Trustees to be part of the volunteer and staff team who grow Scouting in Wales, so even more people join our adventure and gain valuable skills for life.
Rhian Moore, Chief Commissioner of Wales, said: “This is an amazing opportunity for someone with proven leadership experience to share their skills in a non-executive role with a great charity in Wales that directly impacts on the life of young people and wellbeing of our communities.
“We are working to support young people in Wales with skills for life that set them up for their future. Research shows that extra-curricular activity and being in Scouts helps to develop the emotional resilience of our future generations.
“Over the last few years our Chair of the Board has been instrumental in the governance of the charity, supporting our strategic growth with new members and supporting the restructure of the staff team so we are in the best place to work in partnership with volunteers to deliver brilliant scouting in all our communities in Wales. Our outgoing Chair, Chris Curtis, will step down from the role of Chair at the AGM in October and I want to thank Chris for his support and focus on great leadership in a values led organisation”
Chris Curtis said: “Scouts is a truly remarkable organisation. It has been a pleasure to work with the dedicated team of Volunteers and Staff to deliver the Skills for Life strategy and ensure even more young people across Wales have an opportunity to join the adventure. I leave the charity in a strong position for the next Chair, with a great team in place ready to lead the development of the strategy beyond 2025”
Never been a Scout – it doesn’t matter. Are you an inclusive leader with the skills and experience of charity governance. Are you excited to work with staff and volunteers to play your part and oversee excellent strategic delivery? Can you chair effective meetings and probe with curious questions to support the team and make sure the resources are in place to deliver the priorities in Wales? Have you the time to get to know us, be part of our future and leave your mark in history? That is what we are looking for, not whether you like camping or can tie knots.
