We are delighted to be running two, one hour webinars, via Zoom on inclusivity in Scouting. These events are free to attend but you must sign up to book a place. If you want to access the training but aren’t free for the live event you will be able to watch the sessions afterwards.

Why inclusivity matters

Scouts is open to all. Our main priority is to make sure that everyone, young people and volunteers, feel welcome. We want to give you the tools to create an environment that is friendly and comfortable. Whatever age the young people and volunteers you work with are, this training is relevant. Young people are never too young to feel welcome and included.

Who should attend our inclusivity sessions

Any volunteer in Scouting across Wales can join these sessions. Our Board of Trustees and central team have all done this training and found it exceptional. We know conversations around inclusivity can feel daunting but having a go and learning how to improve is what Scouting is all about!  This training will be so useful for you and we would encourage every Group to nominate someone to attend.

This training is run by experts

More Than Flags & Rainbows are a not-for-profit organisation that work with schools, trusts, local authorities and charities to help them discover an approach to inclusion that works for them. It is not a one-size fits all approach and our training sessions have been tailored for Scouting. We are excited to be able to offer these courses and look forward to lots of you attending.

Part 1 - Understanding LGBTQ+ Inclusion in Scouting

Inclusive Scouting – Part 1: Understanding LGBTQ+ Inclusion in Scouting

Scouting is for everyone, and ensuring LGBTQ+ young people feel safe, welcome and included is essential. As we move towards Pride Month, this session will introduce key LGBTQ+ language and concepts, explore why inclusion matters, and provide practical guidance on safeguarding and tackling bullying. Through interactive discussions and real-life scenarios, we’ll equip leaders with the knowledge and confidence to create a Scouting environment where every young person can thrive. Whether you’re new to LGBTQ+ inclusion or looking to deepen your understanding, this session is an essential step in fostering a truly inclusive movement.

From small changes that make a big difference to handling practical challenges like accommodation and safeguarding, we’ll provide tools and strategies to help you embed inclusion into everyday Scouting.
