Well things have changed considerably at 6th Llangyfelach Scouts in Swansea over the past year- mainly due to substantial work that has been done on the building & land outside.

Lots of clutter and old cupboards have been replaced by smart, purpose-built storage all across the width of the hall. This now allows each section to keep their items safe and tidy and out of sight. We have new toilets, with disabled access- the previous ones were more than overdue a revamp- and a baby change station too. One of the side walls has been reconstructed making the building more airtight and energy efficient. We have begun the task of clearing the not insignificant plot of land at the back of our hall and our long-term aim is for this whole area to be opened up for extensive use by our children and young people and the wider community. We have planted a great number of saplings recently and we eventually hope to have different zones or areas for growing, wildlife areas, open play spaces and possibly even camping!

However, the most amazing transformation has happened over the past 2 months with the creation of a new indoor climbing wall. The old stage has been removed and a fabulous colourful purpose-built climbing space has been erected instead to a very high specification. We believe this will be an attraction to both other scout groups and local children and very much hope it will help bolster our popularity as a community venue.

We are extremely grateful to all our generous funders for enabling this extensive amount of work to be carried both within and outside of our hall and of course, also to the regular volunteers and leaders who have put time and effort into planning it all.

We very much hope that we have put the building on a sound footing going forward for community use for decades to come.
