ScoutsCymru is thrilled to announce our upcoming international expedition to Bavaria in August 2025. This expedition offers young people the chance to earn their Explorer Belt while immersing themselves in Bavarian culture and building lasting friendships with local Scouts. This is a fully-funded opportunity thanks to Taith, an international learning exchange programme which creates life-changing opportunities for people in Wales to learn, study and volunteer all over the world.

We are currently looking for adult leaders and young patrol leaders to join the adventure. This is a fantastic opportunity to help guide and support young people, including those with additional needs or who may not have previously had the chance to travel abroad. You’ll play a vital role in encouraging cultural exchange and developing leadership skills.

Participants will spend 10 days in Germany, working closely with Bavarian Scouts to experience their way of life. In 2026, we will host our Bavarian friends in Wales, sharing the rich culture and traditions of our country.

We’re looking for patrol leaders who want to develop their leadership skills. You will have experience of nights away or camps in the UK, although it doesn’t matter if you’ve never been on an international trip before.

In fact, we’re especially keen to hear from young people who would not usually get the opportunity to take part in a trip of this nature and who are keen to take an active role in such an expedition.

Young people must be born between 1 August 2007 and 1 August 2009, meaning they will be 16 or 17 years old before the start of the trip. They will be given support to develop their leadership and teamwork skills.

We are looking for adult volunteers who have extensive experience of supporting young people, including those with additional needs. Ideally this will include experience of international Scouting trips but we welcome applications from people who feel they meet these requirements in other ways.

If you’re passionate about making a difference and want to be part of this incredible journey, apply now.

The closing date for applications is 30th November at 11.59pm. If you’d like more information on either of these opportunities, email us on admin@scoutscymru.org.uk and we’ll be happy to answer your questions.

General applications for participants will be announced soon, so stay tuned!
