Happy Volunteers’ Week 2025!
This Volunteers’ Week (2–8 June 2025), ScoutsCymru is proud to celebrate the thousands of incredible volunteers – of all ages and backgrounds – who make Scouting possible across Wales.
This year’s campaign shines a light on diversity in volunteering and the power of youth. From young leaders to long-standing volunteers, Scouting in Wales is powered by people who give their time, talent, and energy to help young people thrive.
ScoutsCymru love highlighting the many ways volunteers are making a difference – such as the young people stepping into leadership roles on the Mastering Diversity Advisory Board, helping shape a more inclusive future for all. And those volunteers leading unforgettable experiences, such as the Explorer Expedition to Bavaria this summer and the World Scout Jamboree in Poland in 2027, for which leader applications are already open!
The volunteer spirit will be in full force across June, with Cub Fun Day 2025 taking place on Saturday 7 June – bringing together 1,600 Cubs for a day of fun and friendship. Later in the month, more than 550 Explorers will head to the Awesome Camp in the Brecon Beacons for an action-packed weekend of adventure, all made possible by some amazing volunteers behind the scenes and on the ground.
Chief Volunteer for ScoutsCymru, Rhian Moore, said:
“Volunteers are the heart of Scouting – and the impact they make in communities across Wales is nothing short of extraordinary. We’re especially proud of the diverse voices shaping Scouting today – from long-standing volunteers to young people stepping into leadership for the first time. Their commitment inspires hope, inclusion and adventure in every corner of Wales.”
Lowri Williams, ScoutsCymru Youth Lead, added:
“The focus of Volunteers’ Week this year is all about recognising that young people are volunteers too. We get involved in so many different ways – we may be helping to deliver an event that we have actually helped to shape and organise! Youth volunteers are making a difference right now. It’s great to see this being celebrated and to be part of a movement that trusts and empowers young people.”
This year, Friday 6 June also marks World Environment Day, and ScoutsCymru will celebrate those volunteering on activities with a positive environmental impact – from beach clean-ups to tree planting, and programmes focused on sustainability – catch up with one of our groups on Friday to hear what they have been up to in North Wales.
And it’s not just the young – we’re also celebrating the young at heart, like Gill Clay, who will be taking on a daring wing walk just days after her 88th birthday, to raise funds and celebrate 100 years of Scouting in Wales. If you’d like to find out more, catch-up with our press release all about Gill!
To every single volunteer – thank you. From the Cubs leader running weekly sessions to the young person organising their first event, and the volunteers who lend a hand whenever they can – your time transforms lives.
