Young people and volunteers from across Wales are being celebrated this week as ScoutsCymru joins organisations nationwide to mark Youth Work Week Wales 2026.

Taking place from 23–30 June, this year’s campaign theme, Youth Work Works, shines a spotlight on the positive difference youth work makes in the lives of young people and communities across Wales.

As one of Wales’ largest youth organisations, ScoutsCymru supports nearly 14,000 young people every week through activities, adventure, skills development, leadership opportunities and trusted relationships with volunteers.

Throughout the week, ScoutsCymru will be sharing stories from across Wales highlighting the impact of youth work in local communities, celebrating volunteers, and showcasing the opportunities Scouting provides for young people to build confidence, develop skills and feel a sense of belonging.

Jon Williams, Chief Volunteer for Wales said:

“Youth work happens in many different ways across Wales, but at its heart it is about helping young people grow, feel supported and realise their potential.

“Across ScoutsCymru, thousands of volunteers give their time every week to create safe, welcoming spaces where young people can learn new skills, make friends and gain confidence through adventure and experience.

“Youth Work Week is an important opportunity to recognise the value of the people behind it, while also highlighting the difference it continues to make in communities across Wales every single day.”

Scouting in Wales takes place in communities across all 22 local authorities, with volunteers supporting young people aged 4–25 through weekly sessions, outdoor activities, community projects, international opportunities and youth-led experiences.

During Youth Work Week, ScoutsCymru is encouraging volunteers, supporters and young people to share their own stories using the hashtags #YouthWorkWeekWales26 and #YouthWorkInWales.
