For half a century, Dave has quietly dedicated his time to supporting young people to gain life skills. This week, after 20 years as the Chair of Cornel Scout Centre, Dave will be stepping down, with Dexter moving into the role.

Overseeing adventures for thousands of young people at Cornel

Approximately 28,000 young people have visited Cornel during Dave’s time as Chair, amounting to 112,000 days of transformative outdoor adventure! For those people who have not been lucky enough to visit Cornel, it is a wonderful place at the head of Llyn Crafnant, near Trefriw. It’s been a key ScoutsCymru facility for a long time – in fact, this year the centre celebrates its 50-year anniversary!

Cornel House and Annex comfortably accommodates up to 30 guests, with a fully equipped kitchen, social room, and accessible facilities. Meanwhile Campers have access to a well-equipped camping block, with hot showers and, again, accessible facilities. The camp field is open between Easter and the end of September.

Dave’s legacy isn’t measured merely in numbers, or buildings maintained or campsites preserved, but in the lives he’s shaped. Each of the 28,000 young visitors experienced adventure and growth in a safe, fun and welcoming environment.
