We’re planning an exciting new event for Explorers in Wales – and need a team of volunteers to help organise and deliver an experience like no other.

The All Wales Explorer Scout Experience will take place in the summer of 2025 and will build on the success of the popular All Wales Cub Fun Day and All Wales Scout Camp to offer Explorers the next level in their experiences.

It will be a weekend of fun and adventure, with activities running around the clock. It’s an opportunity for Explorers, aged 14 to 18, to learn new skills, try new activities and socialise with more than 400 other Scouts from across the country.

We are currently checking out locations which will enable young people to take part in a range of white water adventures, caving, hill climbing, and other exciting pursuits. We’ll also have an arena jam-packed with a variety of other activities, all designed to give young people the experience of a lifetime and help them work towards challenge and activity badges as well as other Scouting achievements.

We have an event lead volunteer in place, and backing from the ScoutsCymru 14-24 team. Now, we need to build the core volunteer team that will bring this event to life.

There are a range of lead volunteer positions that need support to ensure we deliver the best experience we can. Each role will head up their respective teams, so the ability to manage and organise effectively, lead and motivate teams, as well as having the time to commit to the role, is essential. Planning/organising commences this summer and continues until summer 2025.

You don’t need to be an Explorer leader to apply. We’d love to hear from anyone within Scouting in Wales who is keen to take on responsibilities in the following areas:

  • Deputy Event Lead: You will be an ‘ideas’ person and full of ambition, supporting the event lead to evolve the event into an experience of a lifetime.
  • Youth Liaison Lead: You will be the voice of Explorers. You’ll run feedback sessions and engage with them to ensure the event is truly youth-lead and build a team of youth leads or representatives who will not only participate at the event, but shape the way it is planned too. This role is specifically for a young person aged 18 to 25 and you will be given full support to develop in this role.
  • Site Lead: Are you good with planning and solving problems? Can you look after the site, camping and facilities for 500 people? If you love logistics, this role is for you.
  • Offsite Activities Lead: We are looking to arrange offsite activities that showcase Wales. Depending on location, these could vary, but good knowledge of the Scouting Adventurous Activities Scheme is beneficial for this position.
  • Onsite Activities Lead: We need a good organiser. This role will focus on the onsite activities and arenas, bringing in external providers and sourcing resources.
  • Entertainment Lead: Do you have your finger on the pulse? This role will deliver an entertaining line up of activities across the weekend, including the Saturday night party.
  • Safety and POR Lead: We want to deliver a unique event – but it must be safe. Are you diligent, accurate and attentive? This critical role will help to keep the event safe for young people, leaders and volunteers.
  • Welfare Lead: We need a volunteer to head up pastoral welfare support for participants, including First Aid. You’ll also look after staff requirements while planning and during the weekend, including organising rotas. As this event runs around the clock, ensuring the welfare of our volunteer staff teams is vital.
  • Media and communications: You’ll be confident at generating a buzz about the event on a range of social media channels, good at engaging with posts from our audiences, and will help us keep everybody informed both in the run-up to the event and during the weekend itself.

If you’d like to hear more about any of these positions, or for an informal chat about getting involved, email us on admin@scoutscymru.org.uk providing your name, Scout membership role, which roles you are applying for (this could be more than one) and any relevant experience either inside or outside of Scouting.

You can also apply for one or more of the positions here.

Applications are open until Sunday 14 July, 11.59pm, with interviews taking place online in July.

We look forward to hearing from you,

All Wales Explorer Scout Experience Team
