Three outstanding members of ScoutsCymru have been chosen to take part in the Team of Ten at this year’s Day of Celebration and Achievement at Windsor Castle this Sunday, 26 April 2026. This national event recognises exceptional contribution to young people and communities, and honours and celebrates outstanding service, leadership and dedication across the movement, from local group volunteers to recipients of Scouting’s highest national awards.
With more than 2000 people due to attend the Celebration, the Welsh representatives of Bella Watkins, Jamie Barlow and Kavan Jones will form part of the ceremonial colour party, leading the parade with the Scouts’ Colours during the event. This role is one of the most visible and prestigious at the annual gathering.
The Team of Ten, drawn exclusively from King’s Scout achievers, undertakes significant preparation in the months leading up to the event, attending training weekends and rehearsing ceremonial protocols. On the day itself, the colour party leads hundreds of King’s Scouts into the Quadrangle at Windsor Castle before processing to St George’s Chapel for the National Scout Service.
“We are looking and feeling good, I can’t wait for next weekend so we can show everyone what we’ve been busy doing.”
“Ever since being a participant at the day of celebration and hearing the stories from fellow colour parties before us, I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of even if I didn’t really know what was to come when I was selected. The past few weeks have been hard at times but have also come with some really good laughs too.
I cannot wait to walk onto the quadrangle with flag flying high, it will be a moment I won’t forget.”
Jon Williams, Chief Volunteer for Wales, said:
“Seeing three young people from Wales selected for the Team of Ten is something we are incredibly proud of. To stand at the front of the parade and carry the Scouts’ Colours at Windsor Castle is a tremendous honour. It reflects not only their personal commitment and resilience, but also the strength of Scouting across Wales. They will represent their communities and Wales with distinction.”
The annual Day of Celebration and Achievement at Windsor Castle is a highlight of the Scouting calendar, bringing young people together from across the UK to mark their achievements and share in a memorable ceremonial experience.
“I’m really proud to have been chosen for the Scouts colour party team, and it means a lot to have been given this opportunity. I’m looking forward to working closely with the rest of the team and representing everyone. I’m especially excited for the day itself—the atmosphere, being part of something memorable, and making the most of the whole experience.”
