So, we are saying a big THANK YOU to all our Trustees who volunteer their time across Wales and help to ensure that young people and adults can develop the skills for life.
Here are some ideas for getting involved:
Becoming a Scout Trustee
Scout Trustees contribute to the running of the Scout Group, by providing support to the Local Group Manager to develop the Scouting provision within the local community ensuring that the best quality of Scouting is delivered to young people in the local area. They also ensure compliance with relevant legislation and completion of the duties set out in The Scout Association’s Policy, Organisation and Rules.
Becoming a Scout Trustee means:
Becoming a trustee is an opportunity to develop new skills, covering everything from finance and fundraising to recruitment and reserves. Never did I think as a young person I would have the chance to be part of discussions I have been involved in – a truly valuable development opportunity.
I’ve been Treasurer for the Wrexham District for a number of years and I find the role very rewarding. There are all sorts of jobs that people can help with, as the trustees need a wide range of skills to help them provide the best facilities and experiences for the young people of our scouting sections. Over the years I’ve met a lot of interesting people, of all ages. Being a trustee gives you an insight into the workings of the Scout organisation and it’s nice to know that we’re able to make a difference in some small way.
Trusteeship is a huge responsibility it’s not about the meetings, the agenda or the time of tea!! It is about ensuring we deliver what we have committed to deliver to the young people of Wales
