Scouts are proud to be partnering with UK Parliament Week. As Scouts, we believe in preparing young people with skills for life. We bring communities together and contribute to society. Above all, we aim to build better futures.
UK Parliament Week (UKPW) is an annual event, spreading the word about what Parliament is, what it does and how you can get involved. You’ll get a kit that helps you get informed about your UK Parliament, take action and make an impact on the issues you care about.
Last year over 1.1 million people took part in every nation and region of the UK, and countries all over the world.
We are taking part in UKPW to encourage Scouts across Wales to get involved in democracy and discover how they can make a difference to their communities.
Find out moreAs an ex-scout myself, it is wonderful to see the scouting movement doing so well. I have fond memories of my time as a scout when I lived in Newport in the 1980s and I keep in touch with my old scoutmaster to this day, who is a truly wonderful person and massive inspiration. I am a huge advocate of the scouts. Not only does scouting give support to young people at a critical time during their lives, it empowers them to enjoy real-life experiences and make a positive contribution to society
I’ve spent a lot of time with local Scouts groups in my constituency over the years, and it’s always a pleasure to listen to the views and experiences of children and young people, and to witness first hand how participating in Scouts activities enriches their lives in so many ways. UK Parliament Week is a chance for young people of all backgrounds to learn more and become more involved in politics and democracy on a local and national level and I would encourage all Ceredigion Scouts members to take part in this year’s UK Parliament Week, and make their voices heard.
