When 08:00 21st August – 17:00 29th August 2026
Where Yr Hafod Centre

ScoutsCymru will again be running a DofE open gold expedition this summer based at its centre, Yr Hafod, in Snowdonia. An open expedition is primarily intended for individuals or small numbers who are not otherwise able to form expedition teams in their own Area, but we understand that there can also be occasions when teams are unable to complete their expedition as they do not have access to Leaders with the appropriate Scout permits to support them so we will always try to accommodate them if possible. All participants must book as individuals however and whilst we will always try to accommodate candidates wishing to be together in a team we cannot guarantee this as we have to meet the needs of everyone making a booking.

During the week there is an opportunity to complete either all training including the final practice expedition or the assessed expedition having completed all the planning and preparation required. It is not possible to complete both training and assessment during the same week. This event can also be used to meet the requirements of the Kings Scout Award Expedition section.

The cost of the week is £225 which includes all food and accommodation including any costs relating to the expedition itself. Further details and booking arrangements can be found on the Hafod website https://yr-hafod.org.uk/wp/dofe/
